Hi, my name is Clemens Ascher.
I am an artist and imagemaker based in Vienna, working internationally. I use photography in different ways to create exhibitions, books, editorials and campaigns. Making use of analogue photography, I try to uncover the forms of art within the forms of nature and man made structures, as well as poetic and emotional aspects of my identity and my personal view of the world - trying to give a form to desire, longing and melancholy. I also create series of works combining staged photography and collage showing the world as a stage, negotiating the critical topics of our times, often revolving around consumerism and societal control in its different forms. I work on projects with international brands and magazines at the threshold between commercial and artistic photography. With a strong conceptual and collaborative approach, I’m constantly trying to push the boundaries of image making and contemporary photography. Making use of all technical means, I create cutting edge photography in my distinct signature style.
